On the first weekend of September, two teams from 1st Mevagissey Guides, 7th Camborne Guides, Falmouth Rangers and Saltash Guides and Rangers took part in their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition. All of the girls have been working towards this for a very long time due to Covid.
We would like to congratulate all for the participants for all the hard work they put in for completing the two day expedition. They hiked in all weather conditions with 100 litre rucksacks, carrying all of their own kit so they could camp and cook for both day unaided. From Bissoe they hiked to the Scouts campsite Tomperrow near Truro where they camped overnight in very heavy rain, followed with a hike the next day to the finish in St Day.
A particularly big thank you to Karin Saunders, our outgoing DofE advisor, who has now moved out of county but kindly returned to run this event and a big thanks to Ree our new DofE advisor who assisted on the Bronze expedition.
