Guides

Guides challenge themselves to get out there and do something different - and they make great friends along the way

Guides are girls aged 10-14 years old. What you do in Guides is up to you, from taking part in lots of exciting activities at regular meetings to special events and trips away.

The Guide Programme

Guides follow a varied programme designed to inspire and challenge them. You’ll never be stuck for something to do in Guides. Whether you want to dedicate your time to exploring the outdoors, really focus on your hobbies, or challenge yourself with something new, you’ll find something at Guides that suits you.

Guides can work towards interest badges  – about photography, geocaching, human rights and more, develop life skills with skills builders and work hard to earn unique awards like the Commonwealth award, the Guide Bronze, Silver and Gold award and the six Theme awards, that show their commitment and encourage pride in their achievements.

The Guide Programme is based around six themes.

Guides can complete Skill Builders, Interest Badges and five hours of Unit Meeting Activities to gain Theme awards.

Any two Theme awards will earn you a Rainbow Bronze award. Any four will earn you a Rainbow Silver award. When you've completed all six Theme awards you can work towards your Rainbow Gold award.

Guide Activity Days

This event is organised by the County for all Guides. Each year 200 Guides meet up at Nine Ashes Scout Activity Centre over a two-day period in May, to have lots of fun and try new activities.

Each year there are different activities raging from whittling and zip wire, quad biking to cooking camp doughnuts and craft. The Guides are given the opportunity to find out about moving onto Rangers and have a taster of some of the activities they might experience as a Ranger.

Kernow 22

When live music, dancing and high-adrenaline activities collide

Kernow 22 aims to give both our girls and volunteers the full festival experience. That means live bands, a pamper zone, hot tubs, a Leaders Lounge, cinema screenings, huge inflatables, zip-lining and much much more.
