Janet Franks from 3rd Newquay Brownies tells about their day:

"On Saturday, 1st March, a long-awaited outing finally took place for the Guides and older Brownies of Newquay and St Columb District.

There was an early 8am start on a double-decker bus from Newquay, which mean we were in Plymouth by 9.30am ready to sample a few hours retail therapy. The girls immediately disappeared to explore the pleasures of Primark (and in a few cases River Island), as well as toy shops, Claire’s Accessories and anywhere that sold stationery, sweets or food.

Four hours later, back at the bus, it is questionable whether a larger collection of Primark bags or build-a-bears has ever been spotted in any one location before!

Then it was on to the John Nike Leisuresport Centre. The weather conditions were perfect – sunny, calm and a little chill in the air.

For 3 hours the girls enjoyed the excitement of toboggan rides, Sno-tubing and the Viper Drop, under the supervision of the centre staff and a few courageous Leaders and parents. The less adventurous Leaders ‘networked’ in the café for 3 hours. Brilliant!

By 6 o’clock, the chill in the air was bitter, but there were no complaints. The girls had had a wonderful day which completely lived up to their expectations.
